Relocation: Yes

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Packaging Technician Helper is responsible for assisting the Packaging Technician in the efficient and accurate packaging of salad products. This role supports the overall packaging operations to ensure product quality, food safety, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Packaging Technician in operating and monitoring packaging equipment, such as scales, lidding machines, and case erectors.
  • Perform manual packaging tasks, including placing salad products into clamshells, bags, or other containers, and sealing or labeling packages.
  • Ensure that all packaging materials and supplies are properly stocked and organized at the workstation.
  • Conduct visual inspections of packaged products to verify accuracy, integrity, and conformance to specifications.
  • Identify and report any packaging defects, equipment malfunctions, or product quality issues to the Packaging Technician or Supervisor. 

 

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and food safety protocols.
  • Assist with inventory management, including tracking and documenting packaging material usage.
  • Assist with creation and completion of work orders.
  • Participate in training programs and stay up-to-date with changes in packaging procedures, food safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Packaging Supervisor or Technician.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-1 year of experience in a food processing or packaging environment (preferred)
  • Familiarity with food safety and quality assurance practices
  • Proficient in using basic tools and packaging equipment 
  • Familiarity with work order and part management and systems.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Forklift and aerial lift equipment 
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Team player who will exceed assigned responsibilities and assist others to reach objectives
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer software. (WORD, EXCEL, and OUTLOOK)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to deliver technical information in an easily understood manner across all departments
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent service and maintaining a respectful, professional demeanor with employees at all levels.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be flexible with schedule, AM or PM shift weekends/ holidays and overtime as needed
  • Require seasonal travel to Yuma, AZ

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Primarily work in a production facility with exposure to temperature variations, noise, and potential food safety hazards.
