Employment Type: Seasonal (November to April) 

Location: Imperial Valley, CA 

Work Schedule: Work schedule will be dependent upon company demands; shifts will start in the early morning hours. 

Pay Range: $75K +

Department: Hybrid – servicing Human Resources and Ag Operations (Ag Ops)

Reports To: Sr. Director of HR & Payroll Compliance

The Human Resources department is currently seeking an outstanding candidate to fill the Harvest Employee Recruiter who can contribute to the overall growth and success of the company.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Harvest Employee Recruiter plays a crucial role in recruiting and supporting harvest operations. This is not a typical HR office role—it involves early mornings at the border, engaging directly with prospective harvest employees at bus stops, and transitioning to HR Ag Operations duties later in the day. This dynamic role requires both fieldwork and administrative duties, contributing to the smooth execution of harvest staffing and HR operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Harvest Recruitment & Field Engagement

  • Proactively recruit, Intake employment applications, engage, and assess potential candidates at border bus stops and other key locations.
  • Develop strong relationships with local communities, ensuring a steady pipeline of talent for harvest operations.
  • Conduct candidate screenings, evaluate work eligibility, and confirm job interest in alignment with company needs.
  • Collaborate with HR and operations teams to identify and fill immediate hiring needs for harvest crews.
  • Organize and lead recruitment drives, orientations, and onboarding events in the field.
  • Provide information and assistance to candidates, ensuring a positive recruitment experience.

Operational Support & Collaboration

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws, maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records.

 

  • Foster strong communication and collaboration between HR, harvest operations, and management to ensure staffing needs are met effectively.
  • Partner with HR management to support workforce planning, identifying future talent requirements and addressing HR issues.
  • Act as a culture champion, enhancing the employee experience through ongoing engagement and HR support.
  • Other projects as assigned

Ag Ops Duties

  • Assist with Tira
  • Provide transportation to the clinic.
  • Research and gather information on competitor compensation practices.
  • Assist with check distribution and discrepancies with payroll department
  • Support Ag Ops with coordination of registration and orientations.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed, based on evolving requirements.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR, recruitment, or related field (preferably in agriculture or harvest operations).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with varying field and office duties.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.

 

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and a proven ability to engage diverse communities.
  • Familiarity with state and federal employment laws, specifically within agricultural labor contexts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and ability to learn HR and payroll systems.

Please note that while the primary responsibilities of this position revolve around Harvest Employee Recruiter, there may be occasions during peak transition periods or urgent operational needs where additional duties outside of the primary job description may be required. The pace of work in our department is fast-paced and may entail multitasking or shifting priorities frequently. Flexibility and adaptability are essential for the smooth functioning of our HR operations during critical times.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This role requires working early mornings in outdoor settings, with travel between field locations and the office as necessary.
  • Regular exposure to field and harvest environments. Flexibility to work beyond standard hours, including weekends, is required during peak season.
