Hourly Rate: $24+ (DOE)

Location: San Juan Bautista, Salinas, CA and Yuma, AZ

Relocation: This position is required to relocate to Yuma, AZ for 5 months every year (Mid-November through Mid-April). The remainder of the year, this position will be based out of San Juan Bautista, CA.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The EHS Compliance and Training Coordinator is vital in advancing the organization’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives. This role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, facilitating training, and promoting a safe workplace. Key responsibilities include developing EHS reports, audits, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Operational Procedures and Limits (OPLs) to enhance employee safety and minimize environmental impacts.

Collaborating with the EHS team, managers, and employees, the Coordinator will drive EHS performance through training and best practices. Additionally, the role involves identifying and addressing safety and engineering gaps in regulatory compliance and site procedures.

 

You will implement effective corrective action plans in partnership with site teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and maintaining high safety performance across the organization

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct and/or validate baseline risk assessments to identify gaps and priorities to include, but not limited to: Overall EHS Risk Assessment Safety & Health Regulatory Compliance Assessment, Functional Compliance Assessment, Work at Height Risk Assessment, Machine Risk Assessment, Machine Task Risk Analysis, etc.
  • Champions and develops a culture where safety is ingrained as a core value with all employees, everyone believes zero harm is achievable, everyone is actively engaged in performing their work in a safe manner, everyone actively interacts with co-workers to prevent at-risk behaviors.
  • Actively participates on the site EHS Team and other assigned teams. Effectively coaches and develops operations line supervision to be effective EHS coaches in their respective positions.
  • Analyze EHS conditions and behaviors and recommends changes to continuously improve Site EHS performance to world class levels.
  • Implement systems, procedures, and work practices to ensure “audit ready” state of compliance.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures (SOP's) to ensure Site compliance with company and regulatory agency policies, including federal, state and local legislation and regulations pertaining to EHS.
  • Reviews, analyzes, critiques and/or approves engineering design development reports, plans and specifications for compliance with safety, health & environmental laws and regulations.
  • Drives implementation of EHS best in class programs, systems and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear procedures on EHS measures and precautions.

 

  • Understand the safety risks associated with jobs at the site.
  • Ensures thorough investigation of all incidents, in coordination with Safety and Health Site leadership. Provide expertise and participate to all EHS incident investigations as conducted by Site Leadership.
  • Develop and/or administer safety training programs.
  • Drive excellence through active participation on the production floor to adopt a - ZERO TOLERANCE MENTALITY- toward EHS losses.
  • Oversee the tracking and maintenance of training records and documentation in compliance with all relevant internal and external standards using the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Accurately perform data entry to record, plan, and schedule training sessions within the LMS, ensuring all information is up-to-date and reflective of organizational needs.
  • Proactively update the LMS by assigning curriculum adding or removing courses, and ensuring the system reflects current safety training offerings.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive safety training plans for new hires, onboarding processes, and qualification requirements, ensuring timely completion and proper sign-offs.
  • Efficiently coordinate all aspects of safety training events, including scheduling training rooms, sending notifications, arranging attendees and trainers, and creating and preparing course materials such as tests, evaluations, handouts, and training aids.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years experience in a manufacturing setting who has been successful in the following, but not limited to: coordinating safety activities, developing safety program/procedures, problem-solving safety gaps, developing and executing corrective action plans, building competency & capability in technical safety knowledge and safety leadership behaviors.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations and local equivalents and their application to Site operations.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University (Preferred)

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. (In English and Spanish)

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficient in using computer applications and software for data
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), web-based applications

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fluent in speaking, reading and writing Spanish required
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and digital literacy required.
  • Excellent interpersonal interactions.
  • Ability to build teams throughout all levels and functions of the Site with respect, tact and impactful outcomes.
  • Decision-making; must be capable of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required along with the ability able to relate with audiences that have a broad range of background and understanding.
  • Training & presentation skills.
  • Must demonstrate good insight and ability to develop mutual solutions to challenges.
  • Able to work and lead in a team setting; live the Church Brothers Farms’ 32 Fundamentals and bring it to life for others.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize.
  • Ability to effectively conduct root cause analysis (GSTD-Go-See-Think-Do, 5 Why, Modes of Failure).
  • Ability to quickly learn Site relevant federal and state OSHA requirements.
  • Technical writing skills (policies, procedures, reference manuals, and training materials)
  • Initiative to lead continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to work flexible hours
